You might think that this looks like an oven fullof tasty treats for the family............ but you'll be sad if you are human!!! Macey is really getting big and those puppies are jumping around like little balls of popcorn! Sunday night from 3:30-4:30am I layed on the floor and rubbed her belly until she was finally able to relax and fall asleep. Also not too keen on ordinary dog food right now.... I guess she knows that she can expect special treatment right now and is totally going to take advantage of it!! In the oven I have a pot of bone broth (which we discussed at Thanksgiving) and also a sheet pan of treats. Dog Treats: 1 Can of Pumpkin Puree --not pumpkin pie 1 Cup of Oatmeal 1/2 cup of Peanut Butter 3 eggs ---Im using our farm fresh duck eggs! I just stirred all these ingredients together and put them on a lined cookie sheet and bake until firm. Feel free to add more goodies like leftover chicken or some blueberries. 20-25 minute at 350 While she is waiting for her treats to bake, she is just enjoying a nice warm nap in the sun and chewing on a marrow bone. Better head back to the kitchen. Just wanted to share our homemade treat recipe and to let you see how Mamma Macey is doing today. The countdown is on!!!
Peace Out! Sherry

With the holidaze upon us, everyone with pets is thinking one thing..........where are my pets going while we head out of town or who is going to watch my furry friends and will they remember to come and take care of them? Leaving pets alone is stressful anytime but even more so during the holidays. We are lucky enough to have an Allison! Allison is our neighbor and is always available to help out, and our dogs LOVE her. If you do not have an Allison or a favorite kennel, you likely trying to get some accommodations made.
I think the best place to find out about the kennels in your area is to get on Facebook. Use that social media to your advantage! You'll have to probably weed through some rants about a bad experience or people self promoting, but you'll get good advice too. If you are taking your pet with you to a new place, There are a few things to remember: 1- Getting there. No!!!... it is not really fun to let your dog just be in the car. Use a create, your going to need it when you get to where your going anyway. If you dont use a create, buy a dog car harness. They cost less then fifty bucks and will keep your pet safe and you from being distracted. I have one for Willow and she loves it. It just clips on to the seat belt, holds her secure and she isnt tempted to wander all over the backseat and is kept stable. 2- Your dog does not know this place or these people. They might be scared or just overwhelmed by the change. Be patient with them and make sure and give them plenty of supervision while they adjust to new kids, other pets and surroundings. 3- Bring water and food from home. A lot of dogs will not even eat in a new place but we want to make sure that they continue to drink water. So bring some with at least for the first day while they are getting acclimated. If they dont eat right away, dont worry, they will...............when you get home!! ;p) 4- Treats............why oh why does everyone want to feed all kinds of crap to dogs????? Just avoid this nonsense all together by creating your dog during the meal or main eating time. 5- Play!!!! Take time out of your day or party to play with your dog. This will help calm them down, get rid of some energy and you can burn off one or two of Grandma's sugar cookies!! Peace Out! Sherry |
