Our Bernedoodle litter has fallen through again. Although we are disappointed not to have puppies this summer, we were able to spend an ENTIRE WEEK with Emma and Jimmy and that was a true true gift! Emma is staring her Medical School rotations in August and Jimmy is in the service. Going to Texas to see their homes, surroundings and just spend quality family time was Awesome!! Being able to do the Mom Run to Walmart for a toilet brush and paper towels somehow made me feel that I was connected to her new apartment! This move of Emma's has effected me more than when she was in Missouri. Every time I think of her starting her rotations, I get a lump in my throat and I start shopping for flights. I think it is because she will finally be in front of patients. Since wrapping her dolls up in toilet paper casts when she was about a year old, this has been her path. I am SO proud and SO excited. I just hate to be missing a minute of it. Todd is my voice of reason...apparently people dont bring their Mom's with them on the first day of Surgery Rotation.............that's messed up as far as Im concerned!! Breeding this past Summer, Winter and Spring were disappointingly unsuccessful. We always make sure that our girls are healthy and tested for their most fertile days. The stud dogs that we partner with are always proven and health tested so it was pretty upsetting not to get the pups that we were planning. Especially from Leighla as she was getting older. She has now been fully retired and is full time companion to Emma. I recently read an article about the oral tick medications having some adverse effects on dogs. Nala, Leighla and Reign were all on Bravecto and none of them got pregnant. I also know someone who had to take one of her studs off line because his sperm count plummeted after wearing a Seresto collar. Although none of these suspicions can be proven, we are NO longer using any of these products. Here is the FDA article: I am confident and very excited for our Fall/Winter litter plans.
As the ladies go into their cycles and breeding dates are set, I will continue to update our webpages and social media accounts. Until then............Enjoy the view. Peace out! Sherry
