It's New Year's so a lot of people made resolutions. A lot of people have forgotten theirs already!! I bet there's even an open treadmill at the gym right now! One of the things that I was asked when I said that I wanted to change my eating and nutrition is ......."What's your why????" Some people say these profound things like "I want cure my high blood pressure, " I want to run a 5K" Mines more like, "I want smaller pants" Well maybe "my why" isnt that much of an inspiration, because Im sitting here drinking a glass of wine and I ate some frozen pizza on Sunday. If you're interested, I really do know a fantastic person who has an online meal planning and healthy eating plan. Her name is Anne Jackson https://www.cleaneatingmadesimple.com/eatsimple28-challenge is her website. But, stalled out life changing habit changes isn't why Im writing this tonight. This is: I got this text out of the blue today when I was on some back road, driving over 45 minutes to somewhere outside of Boyceville WI where I buy farm fresh goats milk for the puppies. (also, killer good in morning coffee) I was tired, because Macey needed help with the puppies last night and I was up about every 3 hours and I just wanted to go home, check on her, do chores and make dinner and finish binge watching season 4 of the Game of Thrones. HERE IT WAS.........A REMINDER OF MY WHY. Let's face it, this guy did not need to send me this message. But how kind? To send this great message, out of the blue, over a year later.. Just to say Thank you. I'm starting to get to know some of the new families who will soon be living with these little puppy dudes of mine and I am so excited for them and their stories to come. In the meantime......Mine need some attention too. Peace Out! Sherry

Here's my response to "I want a Goldendoodle because they dont shed" COME TO MY HOUSE AND VACUUM!!! A lot of people, me included, had their interest peaked when the Goldendoodle first began to gain popularity because people were saying that: 1- They dont shed 2- They are non-allergenic. To some degree both statements have some truth to them but neither is entirely factual. I agree with the non-allergenic statement more than the shedding statement because I have 2 friends with severe allergies who have adopted our puppies. They both do GREAT with a goldendoodle. From what I have read this has to do with less dander and their undercoat. But the shedding??? A dogs coat can change so much and every puppy in every litter is so different. I will say that Willow sheds a lot less as she has gotten older. When she was a puppy, she shed a lot more than she does now. Our Labradoodle, Hank, shed more than any other dog we've ever had. Our Mastiff/lab, Duke, leaves a constant spray of hair everywhere he goes. Our Golden Retriever, Macey, sheds differently throughout the seasons. Our Goldendoodle, Willow, sheds less than her mom and our lab but she still can leave her mark. Our Poodle, Leighla, leaves more like balls of fuzz around instead of the fine dusting of hair. So: 5 different breeds of dogs, 5 different levels of shedding -- YET ALL SHED!! When were were selling puppies last year, I was contacted by a lady who said that she wanted a Goldendoodle because they dont shed. I explained that since they are a mix breed, they really can and do shed so there was absolutely no way for me to give her an honest informed statement about exactly how much that will be. She got really angry and told me that another kennel was GUARANTEEING her that their puppies would not shed. -------------I wonder how that turned out????-------------------------------- My hope is that everyone considering owning a Doodle, of any mix, really does their research. Find someone you know who has one and visit their home and their dog. There is no sure way of knowing if you will get a 65 pound, wavy haired, non-shedding gentle male, just like there is no way of knowing that your infant son will be 6'2", love football and prefer a Chevy over a Ford.
This is nature. We embrace all creatures. ........even if they require being followed around with a Dyson all day! Peace Out! Sherry
Besides hanging out with puppies for 6-8 weeks, meeting the families is one of my most favorite part of this venture. Seeing the children's eyes when they are surprised by their parents to choose a puppy is probably one of the greatest sites I have ever seen!! I had a young guy here a few years ago, his dad has asthma so he knew early on that he would never have a dog. His dad started coming here to see if the "doodles" really were easier on his allergies and once he decided that he did not react to the puppies.......It was ON!! That young man was so overcome and to this day is so happy to have his dog. The stories like that are endless to anyone who raises animals or really, I guess, anyone who is involved with other human's. Knowing that I am about to meet so many new people, learn their stories, see those faces light up is what Im looking forward to. In the meantime, 4:30am feedings with warm snuggly puppies............not a bad deal!! Any questions about any of these newbies, just let me know.
I'll be introducing the ones who are not already chosen soon. For now, they are just doing their thing........eating and sleeping! Peace Out! Sherry |
